Arcade Fire's 'Afterlife' Lyric Video Acts As Film Studies Course Too
Oct 22nd 2013, 00:58, by Christopher.Rosen@huffingtonpost.com (Christopher Rosen)

Arcade Fire went deep for its lyric video to "Afterlife," the group's latest single from "Reflektor": The band dusted off their Criterion Collection copy of Marcel Camus' "Black Orpheus" and added the song's lyrics to its memorable images. (For those who don't remember watching "Black Orpheus" in high school or college, the synopsis from IMDb: "A retelling of the Orpheus and Eurydice myth, set during the time of the Carnaval in Rio de Janeiro.") This isn't the first time fans are hearing "Afterlife" -- Arcade Fire performed the song during the season premiere of "Saturday Night Live" -- but it's still pretty great to experience the song in this light. Listen below; "Reflektor" is out on Oct. 29.
