CeeLo Green's Manager Speaks About 'The Voice' Coach's Legal Troubles
Oct 22nd 2013, 23:39, by Sharon Waxman and Tim Kenneally

CeeLo Green has been under fire this week after being charged with a felony drug count on Monday, but the singer and television personality likely won’t suffer career blowback. At least, Green’s manager doesn’t seem to think so.

“I don't think it will affect his career negatively,” Green’s manager, Andrew Jameson, told TheWrap on Tuesday. “I have not seen any indication that it is.”

Green (real name: Thomas DeCarlo Callaway) was charged Monday with furnishing a controlled substance, a felony charge that carries up to four years in state prison.

According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, Green, 38, is accused of slipping a 33-year-old woman Ecstasy while the pair was dining at a downtown Los Angeles restaurant in mid-July. Green and the alleged victim later went to the woman’s hotel, according to the D.A.’s office.

Prosecutors chose not to file a charge of rape of an intoxicated person due to insufficient evidence.

Green pleaded not guilty to the charge against him, according to reports.

While the pending drug charge would seem to hang darkly over Green’s career — which includes, among numerous other ventures, a coaching spot on the hit NBC singing competition “The Voice” — so far that doesn’t appear to be the case.

“The Voice” executive producer Mark Burnett told TMZ on Monday that Green won’t be fired, and Jameson told TheWrap that everyone has been “really supportive.”

While Green’s place on “The Voice” appears to be secure for the time being, he probably won’t be appearing on the series for its spring cycle; judges Usher and Shakira, who filled in for Green and fellow coach Christina Aguilera, on this year’s spring cycle, are slated to return for spring 2014.

However, Green’s professional plate will be full in the coming months. In addition to “Age Against the Machine,” the new album from his reunited hip-hop group Goodie Mob, there’s his TBS unscripted series, “CeeLo’s Goodie Life,” which chronicles is relationship with his Goodie Mob cohorts as they reunite, embark on a tour and rekindle old friendships. That series will premiere next year.
