Fox’s MasterChef handily led this Wednesday night in the demo, scoring a 2.2 rating while delivering 5.4 million total viewers (up a few eyeballs versus last week’s double-episode opener).
NBC’s coverage of the Healing in the Heartland tornado relief concert – which was also carried by several other outlets — meanwhile easily netted broadcast’s largest audience, 8.6 mil, while doing a 1.9 in the demo.
Among Wednesday’s summer launches, CBS’ The American Baking Competition cooked up 5 mil and a 1.0 (placing fourth in the demo at 8 o’clock, and well shy of what Dogs in the City debuted to a year ago), while ABC’s The Lookout newsmag thingy did 4.1 mil/1.1, tying a CSI repeat for the 10 pm demo win.
Dying on the vine over on ABC, both Family Tools (3.6 mil/1.0) and How to Live With Your Parents (4 mil/1.0) slipped to all-time lows, saddled as they now are in perpetuity with repeat lead-ins.
