No, not your average Wednesday afternoon at Empire Towers (we’re more about Toblerones, cups of tea and tormenting those who haven’t caught up with Breaking Bad), it can surely only be the ultra-violent, camper-than-a-tent world of Robert Rodriguez’ Machete. Now the furious former Federale is back for Machete Kills, which has a new red band trailer online. Warning: it… Oh, look, you know what you’re in for, right?
Though the first film didn’t quite live up to the promise of that Grindhouse trailer, the second takes the theory that what apparently worked then will be even more fun if you ramp up the madness now. And yes, that’s Mel Gibson in a cape fighting our hero (Danny Trejo).
If you enjoyed the original Machete, you’re probably going to get a kick (and a punch, and a helicopter blade to the head) from the parade of people, including Sofia Vergara, Lady Gaga, Amber Heard, Antonio Banderas, Cuba Gooding Jr., Carlos Estevez (Charlie Sheen, in case you wondered), Alexa Vega, Jessica Alba and Michelle Rodriguez trying to avoid being hit by flying body parts. It’ll be mad. But will it be an improvement? We’ll find out on October 11. Meanwhile, the trailer’s likely NSFW unless you work in an abattoir.
